In theory, The ABCs of Death sounded like a great idea. 26 directors from around the world given free reign to create a short film with death as the theme and revolving around a letter of the alphabet. What none of the advertisements say is that they are not subtitled. So, the first three segments (A = Apocalypse, B = Bigfoot, and C = Cycle) were in languages that we don’t speak. Could we follow along? Sort of, I guess, but losing dialogue (except for the odd word here and there–I know quite a few curse words) leached any kind of suspense out of them.
